The daughter of Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith, who is well known within the community for cracking down on illegal narcotics, was arrested Monday on meth trafficking charges.
“You think I like seeing my child in an orange jumpsuit in a jail cell? Of course not,” Sheriff Smith said.
His daughter, 38-year-old Kristen Kent, was arrested as part of a larger sting operation.
“It’s heartbreaking, the last person you ever want to arrest is one of your family members, especially your child. I mean it’s like you can’t even put it into words,” Smith told WMMB News.
