Jamaican man sentenced to 51 months for fraudulent scheme

by

A Jamaican man was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud.

Romario Mark Anthony Murray targeted elderly victims in a scheme to defraud them of their money with false promises of sweepstakes prizes.

“Americans are fed up with the constant barrage of scams that maliciously target the elderly and other vulnerable citizens,” said United States Attorney Jason R. Coody for the Northern District of Florida.

The case was prosecuted after a joint investigation by the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Panama City Police Department.
