Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book of Davie wants clarity about “possibly illegal actions” Gov. Ron DeSantis took last week by flying 48 undocumented migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.
Reports about the flights, funded through a $12 million earmark in Florida’s budget, say they originated in Texas. If that’s true, DeSantis’ administration may have violated the approved budget language specifying the money must be used to transport “unauthorized aliens from this state consistent with federal law.”
Book, who is requesting more information from the Department of Transportation, said she intends “to get to the bottom of exactly what happened, why, and how.”
