COMBAT AXE launches at Eglin

by Chris Schroder

The 53rd Wing at Eglin Air Force Base has launched a new branch of the Weapons System Evaluation Program.

Recently rebranded as COMBAT AXE, the initiative aims to collect data on the performance of the Air Force’s C2 weapons systems and provide it to top brass and combat commanders while also providing valuable training to combat-ready operators.

“In order to be successful, we realized we had to field the program in a cost-effective manner. So we got innovative and took advantage of the 53rd Wing’s specialized resources,” said Lt. Col. Steve Wyatt , the commander of the 81st Air Control Squadron.
