Memorial Day charity event set for Niceville

by Margaret Willard

The Black Rifle Coffee Company in Niceville is holding a charity workout event on Memorial Day to honor the late Master Sergeant Luis DeLeon-Figueroa. DeLeon-Figueroa was killed in combat in Afghanistan in August 2019.

Same-day registration begins at 8 a.m. Monday, while the workout starts at 9 a.m. Event proceeds will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

The workout at 510 West John Sims Parkway will contain a 300-meter sprint, 25 burpees, 50 push-ups and 75 air squats. The workout is nicknamed “The Lu” in honor of Master Sergeant DeLeon-Figueroa, whose picture hangs in the coffee store.
