A political newcomer is challenging incumbent Congressman Matt Gaetz in the Aug. 23 Republican Primary Election for the 1st Congressional District.
Mark Lombardo, a Marine Corps veteran and former FedEx executive, has vowed to reform Washington. His ideas include cutting pay for lawmakers who miss votes, enacting a six-year term limit in Congress and working to balance the budget.
Gaetz has gone after Lombardo for challenging him, noting that Lombardo’s late father donated to the Congressman 28 times.
Lombardo has released a series of attack ads against Gaetz and criticized him for missing 200 votes during his time in Congress.
