Changes coming for Santa Rosa Civil Service Board

by carlislewillard

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill (HB 1135) on Friday that removes the Santa Rosa County School District and the West Florida Regional Library from the county’s Civil Service Board.

The Civil Service Board was founded in 1979 to act as an appeals entity for county employees who face demotion, suspension, termination or other disciplinary actions. Pace Rep. Jayer Williamson, who sponsored the bill, said the school district and library were being removed because they already have an internal appeals process.

With their removal, the board composition was changed to remove the School Board appointee and elected School Board employee.
