Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried highlighted her “Lower Costs, Higher Standards” plan Thursday at a Pensacola campaign stop.
The plan features several bullet points, including the declaration of a “housing state of emergency.” It also calls on the Attorney General to investigate dramatic rent increases.
Fried is vying against fellow Democratic candidates for the opportunity to challenge GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“When I’m governor, I will work every day to lower our cost of living and raise our standard of living,” Fried said.
Rents in Florida are skyrocketing. In Miami, for example, rent is rising quicker than the national average.
