Questions surround eligibility of CD 1 Democrat

by carlislewillard

Just days before the Aug. 23 Primary Election, there are questions surrounding whether one of the Democratic candidates for Florida’s 1st Congressional District will be on the ballot.

Peggy Schiller,  who serves as Vice Chair of the  Democratic Executive Committee of Walton County, sued Leon County to remove opponent Rebekah Jones from the ballot because she hadn’t been registered as a Democrat for a whole year.

Jones, a former data scientist for the Florida Department of Health, appealed a judge’s decision to disqualify her from the race. An appeals court put a hold on the lower court judge’s initial ruling.
