Congressional candidate sues opponent Rebekah Jones

by carlislewillard

Democratic Congressional candidate Peggy Schiller has sued her 1st Congressional District Primary Election opponent Rebekah Jones.

In the lawsuit Schiller alleges Jones is not qualified to run because she hasn’t been registered as a Democrat for a full year. From June to August of last year Jones had been listed as “unaffiliated” while she was living in Maryland.

Other defendants in the lawsuit include local supervisors of election and Secretary of State Cord Byrd.

The lawsuit asks for Jones to be disqualified. Because candidates have to qualify for office in Tallahassee, the lawsuit was filed in Leon County Circuit Court.
