Florida gas prices dip slightly after record highs

by Margaret Willard

Florida gas prices have fallen slightly since hitting a record high last week at $4.51 per gallon.

This week is starting with prices around $4.48. Nationally, the average is $4.60 per gallon. Auto group AAA says this Memorial Day Weekend will be the most expensive for gasoline in history. Last year, Memorial Day travelers paid an average price of $2.86 per gallon. The state average was $2.60 in 2019 and $2.91 in 2018, the association reported.

Although there is forecast to be a strong rebound in air travel this year, 90% of holiday travelers are expected to drive to their destination.
