May is American Wetlands Month. It’s a great time to enjoy our coastal marshes by kayak, boat or on a nature walk. You might even enjoy the beauty of these grassy wetlands driving over one of the many bridges connecting our coastal communities.
Salt marshes are essential for a healthy economy and environment. They protect shorelines from erosion, reduce storm surge, and filter out water pollution. Marshes are also a home for over 75% of the shrimp, crab and fish we enjoy eating.
