Eglin unveils $1 million video game center for troops

Eglin Air Force Base is now home to a massive, state-of-the-art video gaming center. The USO and and Elgin leadership unveiled the $1 million gaming center this week.

The gaming center features free food, drinks, gaming consoles and computers as well as gaming chairs and headsets. USO Southeast Region President Jim Whaley dubbed it the “flagship gaming center for the USO worldwide.”

“The whole idea is to give them a little bit of home,” Whaley told Northwest Florida Daily News.

Seventy percent of troops ages 18 to 24 describe video games as their favorite leisure activity, per a USO survey.
