Gov. Ron DeSantis announced plans Friday to provide $23 million in infrastructure grants to Panhandle communities.
The grant money will float a variety of local infrastructure projects. Among them: $91,000 to improve two Panama City fire stations and $106,500 to develop a campground in Jackson County.
DeSantis touted the money as a shot-in-the-arm for the Panhandle. The region is still recovering after Hurricane Michael.
“The best defense is a good offense and the long-term resilience of the Florida Panhandle is dependent on continuing to provide resources to support the success of these communities,” DeSantis said.
