The University of West Florida is among the first in the region to offer educational programs to incarcerated individuals.
The learning opportunities will be facilitated through the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program. It will allow students and 13 incarcerated individuals at the Santa Rosa Corrections Institution to learn alongside each other.
Legal Studies Assistant Professor Jennifer Brinkley, J.D. and Dr. Nicole Niebuhr will lead the course. Niebuhr is an assistant professor within the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The pair underwent a 40-hour training course to facilitate the program.
The course will kick off in the Spring 2020 semester.
