Flyover planned in Okaloosa

by Margaret Willard

A massive flyover is planned over Okaloosa Island on April 18 at 5 p.m. to honor the Doolittle Raiders of World War II and recognize the 75th anniversary of the Air Force.

The flyover could include as many as 30 planes, which would make it likely the largest flyover ever in the area. The Doolittle Raiders were the first to bomb the Japanese mainland during the war.

The scheduled flyover, which will include all types of aircraft flown by the Air Force, will be led by a B-25 Mitchell bomber, the same type of aircraft that the Raiders flew.
