Shane Abbott boasts fundraising advantage in HD 5

by carlislewillard

House District 5 candidate Shane Abbott’s campaign raked in more than $21,000 in February.

A DeFuniak Springs pharmacy owner, Abbott is running in the GOP primary to succeed term-limited Rep. Brad Drake. Abbott faces Jackson County Commissioner Clint Pate and Marianna Republican Vance Coley.

In all, Abbott’s war chest boasts more than $228,686 on hand. Abbott also enjoys endorsements by Drake and Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson.

HD 5 is a Republican stronghold. Drake hadn’t faced a general election challenger since 2016. The Panhandle district covers Holmes, Jackson, Walton and Washington counties, as well as parts of Bay County.
