Money for Calhoun County Schools

by carlislewillard

Republican Rep. Jason Shoaf scored millions in the 2022 Legislative Session to rebuild Florida’s “Forgotten Coast,” a Panhandle region devastated in 2018 by Hurricane Michael.

Hurricane Michael made landfall near Tyndall Air Force Base as a Category 5, ravaging the Forgotten Coast and several schools within the region. The area today is still reeling.

Among several projects, Shoaf is most proud of securing $11 million to break ground on the reconstruction of a Calhoun County school. The money marks an additional allocation, which Shoaf says will satisfy rising construction costs.

Shoaf also secured $8 million for Panama City sidewalk improvements.
