The medical team at Eglin Air Force Base this month has been distinguished with several awards from the 2021 Air Force Medical Service Annual Awards.
Individual airmen were distinguished as diet therapists, biomedical specialists and physicians. However, the 96th Medical Group was also named the 2021 Hospital of the Year.
The hospital became the birthplace of around 640 babies last year, according to a Northwest Florida Daily News report.
Part of the team’s daily approach that helped achieve the best-in-the-nation distinction is its “patient safety huddle,” where the team meets each morning to discuss how they will deliver safe care.
