Pensacola International Airport will be one of 98 Florida airports to receive part of the $1.2 billion in federal funding from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The law is allocating $4,841,447 for Pensacola International Airport just this year, to accommodate the more than 2 million passengers it serves.
Backers say the investment will create many new jobs, and will also increase energy efficiency and improve accessibility for historically disadvantaged populations.
The legislation is expected to add an average 1.5 million jobs per year across the country for the next 10 years, according to projections.
